The College of ACES invites you to attend the first annual ACES December Graduation Reception on Friday, December 18, 2009, from 4:30 - 7:00p.m. in the ACES Library.
The College has received requests from students (particularly international students and their family), faculty and staff, about hosting a ceremony for graduates who finish their degree in December. Unfortunately, campus does not host a commencement ceremony for graduates in December and often times, it is simply not possible for the graduate and/or their family members to return to campus to participate in the formal May graduation ceremonies.
Our College of ACES will host an ACES December Graduation Reception this year as a way to congratulate all December graduates on their accomplishments and wish them well in their future endeavors. Please note that the December reception will not preclude students from participating in the May 2010 graduation ceremonies; graduates will still receive an invitation to participate in the May 2010 ‘pomp and circumstance’ ceremonies.
At 5:00 p.m. on December 18, graduates will be presented by name in the Heritage Room in the ACES Library, where they will receive a diploma cover, and have their photograph taken. A professional photographer will be available to take photographs, with no obligation to purchase. Proofs and order information will be emailed to the students with instructions on where to view the photos online and submit an order. A reception will immediately follow the presentation of graduates.
Academic regalia will not be required to attend the ACES December Graduate Reception. If however, any faculty, staff and students wish to order a cap & gown for this event, information on how to submit an order will be provided in an email sent mid- to late-October. Our office will have two gowns available for graduates and faculty to use for photographs.
