Off-Road Equipment Engineering

The Midwestern part of the U.S. is the home of many of the largest off-road equipment manufacturers in the world. The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering is ideally positioned to train engineers for this sector and has a long history of excellence in the domain of Off-Road Equipment Engineering (OREE). The objective of the OREE specialization is to provide students with knowledge and skills in the design, manufacturing, testing and operation of agricultural and construction equipment so that they can practice engineering and provide leadership as well as inspire innovation in companies such as Caterpillar Inc. and Deere & Company. OREE faculty research focuses on areas such as agricultural automation, remote sensing, and engineering solutions for biomass feedstock production.

In the OREE section, you will...

  • design, manufacture, and test equipment the agricultural and other industries
  • design specific machine components and complete machinery
  • create equipment control systems for the agricultural, construction, forestry, and mining industries
