ABE distinguished alum takes the leap to new opportunities

After graduating from ABE, Anthony Rund spent 16 years working for Caterpillar, Inc., rising to a global leadership position. Now he’s ready for new challenges as an entrepreneur and business owner.

Rund, BS ‘04, AgE, is the recipient of the 2022 Young Alumni Achievement Award in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. The award was established in 2020 to recognize early to mid-career alumni who have demonstrated outstanding achievement since graduating from the ABE department.

Student Spotlight: Aaliya Lokhandwala

This week we’d like to shine a spotlight on one of our third-year students, Aaliya Lokhandwala, who is currently majoring in Engineering Technology and Management for Agricultural Systems.

Aaliya is originally from Downers Grove, Illinois. She transferred to the University of Illinois to pursue a major that combined both of her interests: business and environmental sustainability. She shared, “I believe both of these concentrations work well together and can help provide insightful solutions to current issues. This major incorporates best of both worlds without double majoring!”

George Clark Honored as ABE Distinguished Alum

George Clark honored as ABE distinguished alum

George Clark started his career with Ford Tractor Operations in Michigan and ended up as chief engineer for CASE IH Magnum tractors. Along the way he travelled the world, including a 7-year stint in England.

ABE Delegation Visits Cambodia for Sustainability and Food Security Related Program

A group of faculty and staff in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering (ABE) visited Phnom Penh and Siem Reap in Cambodia from June 19 to 28, 2022 for various meetings, field trips, and research discussion in connection with the Appropriate Scale Mechanization Consortium (ASMC).

TSM 439 Capstone Spark Tank Showcases Industry Based Projects

The Spring 2022 semester brought the second offering of the TSM 439 Capstone Experience. This course provided students the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills from their entire college career into one hands-on project.  Five student teams designed, built, and tested prototypes that solve real-world problems in the agriculture, construction, and environmental sustainability industries.
