The Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering annually recognizes outstanding alumni, students, faculty, and staff for their accomplishments with a series of scholarships and awards. This year, we were able to award over $70,000 to more than 60 recipients. We are incredibly grateful to our donors whose generous gifts make these awards possible. For years, Doug Bosworth has been contributing to the scholarship fund in the Department of Agricultural and Biological Engineering. However, that’s not the contribution that brings him the most recognition in the department. ABE alumni and faculty alike admire Bosworth for his time spent as an ABE instructor, passing on valuable industry experience to students at his alma mater.

As 3D modeling is becoming increasingly more important in almost every industry, students need a formal opportunity to learn 3D modeling skills. 3D printing provides an inexpensive way of creating customizable tools, equipment, and supplies as well as a fast way of prototyping parts for machinery and systems. As 3D printing technology decreases in price and increases in precision, breadth of application, and material variety, more industries will move towards 3D printing to help solve their problems.
Illinois AgrAbility acknowledged 30 years of service to Illinois agricultural producers with a virtual Anniversary Celebration on September 29. Since 1990, Illinois AgrAbility has provided direct services to over 800 farmers with physical limitations and disabilities and provided education about assistive technologies and referrals to another 1200 producers.
